Carmelites attempt to be praying communities in the midst of the people and it is these people that we serve. Here at Aylesford, our ministry is one of service to the pilgrims who come to the priory, a service shown by our friendship and our welcome. The community is conscious of the thirst for spirituality among people today and we hope by prayerful listening to accompany those who are searching for God.
Beside the care given to large groups of pilgrims the members of the community are engaged in retreat ministry and the care of individuals who ask for our help. Young people are an important part of our ministry and they are made welcome either for an educational visit or for times of prayer and reflection. Individual friars are involved in school, prison chaplaincy and media work. The community is committed to ecumenical activity and welcomes opportunities for interfaith dialogue.
The Friars is open 365 days a year and entry is free.
